Experiment Z24

As most of you know, at the beginning of November, I was at a workshop sponsored by the Association of Independent Art Schools (AIAS) in Zurich, Switzerland, where we intervened in the daily life of the city for 24 hours straight under the auspices of the elusive and much-feared urban research team, "forschungsgruppe-f." Here are some photos, but there's a heckuva lot more to see at the following link...including a rather embarrassing video of me flopping backwards onto a specially made flopping device in the main train station. Also check out the newspaper, which has some texts that I wrote (but I can't claim credit for the urban mayonnaise text).

Mayor's Christmas Parade

Hey everybody!

Now that I'm living in Hampden I get to participate more in local cultural events. This Sunday I got to see the Mayor's Christmas Parade (on account of it taking place right outside my door). I ended up borrowing one of my roommates' camera and took a few pics.

Enjoy!

FOMS overwhelming...

I know its been a while and I just wanted to let all of you know that while I may have forgotten about the blog, I haven't forgotten about all of you. That being said, here's a little something for yall:

Halloween 2007.

Sorry for not linking directly to the image, but my Flickr kung-fu isn't so hot. Luckily Danielle (the girl who took the picture) is a current MADA student and so there are some cool pics of the "new guys" to be seen as well.

Enjoy!

Sickos

Yo Sickos! I just finished watching the latest Michael More effort and wow. You guys are really screwed aren't you... More covers the national health services in Canada, England and France to show how it could be done. Apparently More also travelled to Norway, but the takes were removed because, More claims, Americans wouldn't believe they were true. They will however be included on the DVD as bonus material. Actually, from what was told about the French system I think the Norwegians have fair competition. Especially the bit about the government paid nanny that came home to people to cook dinner and wash clothes. Anyway, I suspect that there were mainly story reasons for France being chosen over Norway. That and the fact that Americans have never heard of Norway :-)

That's Amore ...

I know some of you are embarking on your summer journies on Monday and I'm not sure how up you are for heavy Italian food and drinks, but I'm bartending at That's Amore Sunday night. My shift starts at 4 and if anyone is interested in coming in and visiting, I would love that! Directions are easy...Take 95 South to Rt. 32 West towards Columbia. Get off at Rt. 29 towards Columbia town center follow 29 until you see the exit for Broken Land Parkway, bear left on the exit towards Merriweather Post Pavillion. At the second light (at Little Patuxent Parkway) take a right. I believe its 3 lights... at the third light you should see That's Amore to your left. Take that left into the mall area, parking is across the street from the resturant.

ahh, crisis century

i don't know that anyone's reading this right now, but as Crisis Century isn't highlighting these things for us ....

President Intervened in Dispute Over Eavesdropping

WASHINGTON, May 15 — President Bush intervened in March 2004 to avert a crisis over the National Security Agency’s domestic eavesdropping program after Attorney General John Ashcroft, Director Robert S. Mueller III of the F.B.I. and other senior Justice Department aides all threatened to resign, a former deputy attorney general testified Tuesday.

Mr. Bush quelled the revolt over the program’s legality by allowing it to continue without Justice Department approval, also directing department officials to take the necessary steps to bring it into compliance with the law, according to Congressional testimony by the former deputy attorney general, James B. Comey.

Although a conflict over the program had been disclosed in The New York Times, Mr. Comey provided a fuller account of the 48-hour drama, including, for the first time, Mr. Bush’s role, the threatened resignations and a race as Mr. Comey hurried to Mr. Ashcroft’s hospital sickbed to intercept White House officials, who were pushing for approval of the N.S.A. program.
